I've made my living from writing for more than 15 years, as a business journalist, copywriter, blogger and Web-content author. I've been freelancing full-time since late 2005, and write the Make a Living Writing blog about the business of freelance writing.
My commitment to excellence is reflected in the many awards I've received, including a "Best in Business" award from the Society of Business Writers and Editors, and multiple first-place awards from the Society of Professional Journalists. I excel in working remotely for clients based around the globe.
Business sectors I've covered include small business, public companies, franchising, retail, restaurant, real estate, insurance, legal, financial, tax, call center, home improvement, beer and wine, higher education, nonprofits, and arts and entertainment. Whew! Yes, I have been busy.
Say, that opening style was kind of dry, wasn't it? Sometimes I like to shake off that just-facts, business mode and get more conversational and creative, if the topic and publication could use more snap.
My personal goal is to find the joy in each day, and every writing assignment. That's why clients tell me I'm more fun to work with than your average freelancer.
Besides writing, copywriting and blogging, I also enjoy teaching, coaching and mentoring in two separate fields. I teach businesses and nonprofits how to get their stories into the media, and I mentor other writers and teach them how to make a living as a freelance writer. I give free advice on the business of writing at my Make a Living Writing blog here on the site. Watch for my e-books on these topics to arrive on this site shortly.
